Abstract

Workplace motivation and job satisfaction are important factors influencing employee behaviour, performance and organisational effectiveness. This review examines the relationship between workplace motivation, job satisfaction and organisational effectiveness by synthesising findings from recent scholarly studies. The review highlights the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors, including recognition, achievement, meaningful work, rewards, supportive supervision and favourable working conditions, in shaping employees’ job satisfaction. It further examines how motivation and satisfaction influence employee performance, commitment and contribution towards organisational objectives. Existing evidence indicates that motivated and satisfied employees are more likely to demonstrate positive work attitudes and performance, although organisational effectiveness is influenced by several interconnected individual and organisational factors. The review concludes that organisations can strengthen effectiveness by developing supportive work environments, recognition systems, participative practices and employee development opportunities
